Job Description:

The Role:

To meet the increasing demand for our first-class support, we are expanding our team of specialist support consultants.

This role is available on a flexible hourly rate basis, supporting students in a university setting, with vacancies across the country.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide effective support to students in higher education
• Work with individuals facing barriers to learning due to mental health and/or autistic spectrum conditions
• Identify strategies with students to address barriers and promote independent learning
• Offer support tailored to individual needs, including activities like time management, planning, coping with anxiety, and workload prioritization
• Enhance student autonomy and monitor the effectiveness of strategies
• Organize sessions with assigned students
• Support students on campus, at home, or remotely as agreed
• Complete Amano administration promptly and accurately
• Follow Amano safeguarding, health and safety, lone working, and professional boundaries policies

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with students with disabilities and/or mental health or ASC-related difficulties
• Ability to assess student needs and establish Individual Support Plans
• Understanding of the needs, objectives, and constraints of others
• Knowledge of higher education study demands
• Ability to recognize when to refer or signpost to other services
• Effective planning, prioritization, and organization skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proficiency in using mobile IT
• Proactive approach to maintaining CPD

Mandatory Qualifications:

Applicants must be educated to degree level and hold current professional membership of one of the following:

• PATOSS (full or associate membership)
• BDA (full professional membership)
• ADSHE (professional membership)
• Dyslexia Guild (member, associate, or fellow membership)
