Role Description

This is a remote role for a Specialist SPLD &/or ASD Tutor. The Specialist Tutor will be responsible for providing 1-1 support for individuals with specific learning difficulties (SPLD) and or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The role includes assessing individual needs, planning and implementing appropriate teaching strategies, and monitoring progress. The Specialist Tutor will also collaborate with teams and organisations to deliver workshops and training programs.

Rate of pay: £32 p/hour inclusive of holiday pay. Zero hours, flexible working around your availability, ability to provide in-person support if required to your local HE institutes.

  • Membership of professional body, either:
  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) - Full or associate membership
  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA) - Full professional membership
  • The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE) - Professional membership
  • Dyslexia Guild

Essential/Desired Skills:

  • Experience in providing 1-1 support for individuals with SPLD and ASD
  • Knowledge of learning difficulties and neurodiversity
  • Ability to assess individual needs and develop personalized teaching strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in delivering workshops and training programs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work remotely and independently
  • Experience in the education sector is a plus
  • Relevant certification or degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related field
