Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our education-focused client in Brecon, Powys. The role supports children and young people with diverse communication needs in specialist settings, delivering assessments, interventions, and specialist training.

You will collaborate with teachers and therapists, applying SEND frameworks and person-centred practice, with opportunities to mentor staff and contribute to EHCP/IDP reviews.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs, including autism spectrum conditions.
• Strong knowledge of SEND frameworks and person-centred practice.
• Experience delivering training, mentoring, or workforce development initiatives.
• Understanding of AAC, PECS, Makaton, or Dysphagia, or willingness to undertake further specialist training.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and case management abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for children and young people with complex needs.
• Designing and delivering tailored intervention programmes for individual pupils and groups.
• Supporting learners with communication and interaction difficulties, AAC, and eating and drinking challenges where appropriate.
• Collaborating with education, care, and therapeutic professionals to embed communication strategies throughout the school environment.
• Providing expert advice, guidance, and coaching to colleagues to improve communication outcomes across the setting.
• Delivering training sessions for staff, families, and carers to promote consistency in communication approaches.
• Contributing to EHCP/IDP reviews, multidisciplinary planning meetings, and wider therapy service developments.
• Championing best practice and evidence-based approaches to communication support.

Salary: £35,481 - £39,423 pro rata per annum (equivalent to £45,000 - £50,000 FTE)

Our client, a leading education and care provider, is seeking a dedicated Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join their expanding therapy team in Brecon, Powys. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with a range of communication and learning needs within specialist education settings, helping them develop vital communication skills for both education and daily life.

Requirements & Qualifications
