The therapist is responsible for managing their own caseload, collecting work statistics, and working effectively with staff on the stroke unit. Responsibilities include supervising volunteers and assistants, observing students, conducting assessments, formulating treatment plans, writing reports, providing interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
Additional duties involve reviewing and discharging patients, seeking second opinions, making referrals, and offering advice to clients, carers, and staff. The role requires active participation in staff meetings, contributing to audits and quality measures, and managing equipment and resources.
It also includes participating in multidisciplinary meetings, providing clinical advice, and supporting professional development through supervision, training, and research activities. The therapist may supervise assistants or volunteers and is expected to work across multiple locations, managing complex cases and contributing to service planning and policy discussions.
