Job description

Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - ESD for Stroke

To adhere to National and local standards and guidelines relating to Professional Practice (CQ3 and HCPC). To be aware of and adhere to current legislation and employer procedures relating to the post. To demonstrate commitment to personal development and acquisition of further skills and knowledge. To keep abreast of research in the field of stroke care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing own caseload and collecting work statistics as specified in the service level agreement.
  • Working closely with staff on the stroke unit and supervising volunteers and assistants.
  • Observing students and providing assessment, diagnosis, treatment plans, reports, interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Reviewing and discharging patients, seeking second opinions, and making referrals.
  • Providing advice to clients, carers, and staff, and participating in team meetings and audits.
  • Highlighting equipment needs and attending multidisciplinary meetings.

Indicative features include:
