Job description

Join Our Speech and Language Therapy Team at Dorset County Hospital

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at Dorset County Hospital as part of our supportive speech and language therapy team.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic B6 Speech and Language Therapist wishing to develop skills across the adult acute inpatient pathway. Applicants suitable for a B5 developing B6 opportunity will also be considered.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Manage complex communication and swallowing disorders across all acute inpatient wards.
  2. Participate in a project within the Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care.
  3. Provide diagnosis, assessment, treatment, and management to adult in-patients with communication and/or swallowing problems.
  4. Work with the Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist leading on specialist provision.
  5. Participate in a weekly videofluoroscopy clinic.
  6. Supervise junior staff and students.
  7. Develop and participate in training programs across acute and community MDTs.
  8. Be part of an SLT project within Emergency Care.
Support and Development

We offer peer support, regular 1:1 meetings with the clinical lead, appraisals, and clinical supervision. We encourage CPD, attendance at relevant courses, and training opportunities including developing instrumental assessment skills in videofluoroscopy and FEES.
