This role suits a band 5 speech and language therapist aiming to develop higher-level skills or any band 5 or 6 therapist interested in specializing in deafness.
The successful candidate will work with children and young people aged 0-19 years with various degrees of deafness across different settings. You will join a well-established community therapy team, supported by a specialist in deafness and experienced therapists in speech and language, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy.
We adopt a total communication approach, valuing all communication modes and actively encouraging sign language. We have close links with cochlear implant centers and opportunities to work with children using hearing aids and cochlear implants. You will also support children with additional speech and language needs, requiring diverse assessment and therapy approaches.

You will manage caseloads of children with communication delays/disorders related to hearing loss, aged 0-19 years. Responsibilities include delivering direct and indirect therapy, providing specialist reports, and supporting inter-agency case conferences.
You will offer training and support to parents, carers, school staff, and other professionals, supervise bilingual co-workers, and contribute to service development through ongoing evaluation and proposing improvements.
