Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to work in the community CPFT Speech and Language Therapy Team.

The post holder will work in Peterborough alongside colleagues, providing input to patients with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

The successful applicant will join a friendly, innovative team of therapists and clinical assistants. The team meets regularly for meetings, and the post holder will receive regular line management and clinical supervision. The service holds two clinical development days a year, providing opportunities for clinical skill development.

Please note, for this role, you will be required to travel independently around the county to meet strict time deadlines. You must hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. Public transport cannot be used for this role, as it is not reliable enough to meet service needs. Please confirm in your application that you meet these criteria.

The post involves working independently, providing speech and language therapy to outpatients and domiciliary patients, and input to community hospital wards, ensuring high-quality clinical care.

The role includes working with patients with communication impairments, dysphagia, and potentially some voice work.

  • To independently assess, diagnose, and develop care programs for patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing needs in various settings.
  • To work effectively within the integrated care team and liaise with MDT members and other agencies.
  • To maintain accurate, timely records compliant with Trust policies and HCPC guidance.
  • To contribute to patient prioritization and triage within clinical pathways.
  • To provide specialist advice to the MDT, service users, and others regarding care plans and patient progress.
  • To work with clinical assistants, delegating work appropriately, and providing supervision and support.
  • Depending on experience, there may be an opportunity to work within the weekly Videofluoroscopy service.
