Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
The main focus of the post will be to work with whole settings, within classrooms, and with individual students to:
- Develop policies and practices around SLCN within and across settings and professional groups, e.g., Communication Friendly classrooms.
- Collaborate with other agencies to ensure that SLCN are identified and addressed within educational practices.
- Contribute to the development and communication of the evidence base around SLCN and life outcomes.
- Develop staff knowledge around SLCN through training and collaborative working.
- Supplement teacher assessment, communication-friendly classroom practices, and targeted support with specialist assessment and personalised evidence-based interventions where needed to better understand needs or address specific underlying difficulties, which are within the remit of specialist speech and language therapists.
- Identify clear outcomes and action plans for settings, children/young people, and families to maximise learning, inclusion, participation, and wellbeing.
