Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, working with adults with learning (intellectual) disabilities in the Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership (LDP). The service is well-established and offers many opportunities for development.
The LDP comprises five locality-based integrated community specialist health and care management Teams, including Social Workers, Adult Support Co-ordinators, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Arts Therapists, and Speech & Language Therapists, along with day and accommodation services organized by the Local Authority for adults with a learning disability. The SLT team includes a Lead Speech and Language Therapist (Band), two Band Advanced SLTs, two Band Specialist SLTs, and a Band Apprentice SLT, all employed by CPFT. We maintain close links with colleagues working with people with learning disabilities within CPFT and with researchers at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and the University of Cambridge's Department of Psychiatry. The service also provides placements for Speech and Language Therapy undergraduates at UEA.
The five teams aim to deliver person-centred, integrated, specialist health and care management services that promote individuals' rights to choice, independence, health, and wellbeing, in accordance with their assessed needs and in a manner that helps them reach their full potential.
