Job description

Come and join one of the UK’s largest providers of complex care. We proudly employ over 4000+ people - no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone.

At Active Care Group, we believe that recovery is more than just a physical process—it's about rediscovering the passions that define us. Take Andrew, for example. After suffering an Acute Ischaemic Stroke, his future as an artist and tutor seemed uncertain. But through the compassionate care and support he received at Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, Andrew not only regained his strength but also reignited his love for art, even holding an exhibition on the ward. His journey culminated in ringing the Recovery Bell, symbolising his triumph over adversity.

Join Us in Making a Difference

If you’re passionate about helping individuals like Andrew reclaim their lives and identities, we invite you to join our team. At Active Care Group, we empower our therapists to deliver patient-centred, innovative care. Your expertise and ideas are not just welcomed—they're vital to helping our patients succeed.

Why Work With Us?

  • Greater Autonomy and Flexibility: Say goodbye to the frustrations of bureaucracy. We empower our therapists to make swift, effective decisions that enhance patient care.
  • Specialised Neurorehabilitation Experience: Work in our renowned Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to specialise in cognitive communication disorders, in addition to dysphagia and aphasia.
  • Supportive, Multidisciplinary Team: Join a collaborative MDT that delivers high-quality, holistic care, prioritising the needs and rights of our patients.
  • Professional Growth and Development: Access specialised training programmes, including postgraduate opportunities, to advance your skills in neurorehabilitation and beyond.

If you’re looking for an inspiring role where your expertise and compassion will drive real change, we’d love to hear from you.

What you'll be working:

Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Devise evidence-led therapy programmes for patients at a specialist level, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary working to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
  • Maintain high standards of clinical care in line with national guidance for excellence.
  • Named Therapist duties to ensure cohesive goal-setting and therapy and coordinating discharge.
  • Develop your skills in clinical supervision and informal mentoring of Speech and Language Therapy assistants and students.
  • Participate in internal training (induction, mandatory training, MDT in-service).
  • Ensure all relevant codes of practice and regulations are upheld.
  • Participate in service delivery audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights.

What you'll have:

  • HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience of working in a neurorehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in working with aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, and dysphagia.
  • Specialist level dysphagia competency on RCSLT framework.
  • Ability to motivate patients over long periods.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS.

We also want to ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable facilities to participate in job applications or interviews to perform essential job functions. To support this, we are a Disability Confident committed employer.

What to look forward to:

  • Free lunch when on duty.
  • 25 days plus bank holidays.
  • Join the Active Learning Hub and benefit from a wide range of e-learning and face-to-face training and development opportunities.
  • Active Reward App giving discounts and savings on your weekly shop.
  • Free 24-hour confidential Employee Assistance Programme Helpline & App to support with legal, health, wellbeing, relationship and consumer advice.
  • A salary sacrifice Aegon 5% matched pension account.
  • Access to join a Medicash Health Plan for you and your family to save money on everyday health essentials – like going to the dentist or opticians.
  • We recognise outstanding Active Behaviours via the Active Awards programme.
  • Enhanced Sick & Maternity Pay benefits.
  • Refer a Friend Scheme and earn yourself up to £1500 by recommending someone you know.
  • ……and, of course, the support and guidance of our qualified clinical and business leadership teams so that you can really develop your career with Active Care Group.
