Job summary

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to work with children and young people in educational settings, delivering assessments and SLT interventions within EHCP frameworks.

You will collaborate with families, schools and professionals to support communication needs and promote inclusive practice, ensuring compliance with HCPC and RCSLT guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy confirmed and HCPC registration.
  • Current membership of the RCSLT is desirable.
  • Experience with school-based SLT practice and EHCP involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support children and families in line with EHCPs and statutory assessments.
  • Collaborate with parents, schools and other professionals to deliver SLT provision.

Essential criteria
  • Degree and Licence to Practise from the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists
  • Current registered membership of HCPC and RCSLT
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of supporting CYP, families and schools in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 including contribution to statutory assessments (Education Health and Care Plan Needs Assessments), contribution to the annual review process and delivery of SLT provision as specified in Education health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Collaborative work with parents and other professionals
  • Experience Training others
Desirable criteria
  • Interest to develop clinical specialism in education
  • Training/experience of supporting students and more junior qualified therapists including provision of supervision and line management
Skills
Essential criteria
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy
  • Excellent communication /presentation skills verbal and written
  • Understanding of typical child development Speech and Language, Play and other milestones
  • Good working knowledge of appropriate range of assessments and interventions for school aged CYP with Speech, Language and Communication needs and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits to individual CYP
  • Understanding and application of Education Practice and Policy including the Children and Families Act 2014
  • Awareness of national policies and procedures (relevant to the Education)

  • Able to maintain prolonged concentration in order to assess the speech, language and communication skills of CYP using formal and informal assessments
