Job description

Due to service expansion, a superb opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP) to join our team of highly motivated, professional staff who take pride in providing excellent services for our patients at Tees Screening Centre, North Tees and Hartlepool Foundation Trust. Full time and part time posts are available.

We seek dynamic individuals who are keen to support the development of the exemplary service delivered thus far; with excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Data entry and management forms a substantial part of the role, and good IT skills are necessary to ensure accurate collection of data and management of the patient pathway. Prospective applicants should be fully conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook packages as a minimum. Training will be provided on the dedicated screening IT system (BCSS).

The team is based at North Tees Hospital, but Screening Practitioners are expected to work across the four other screening sites in Redcar, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, and Northallerton, together with other venues as appropriate.

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high-quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones.

We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We will support staff by providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits, and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the Month, colleague recognition – a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars, and Service Awards.

We actively encourage staff involvement with staff networking events and staff surveys.

“Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool.”

The post holder will provide the highest standard of care and support for patients participating in the national Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and will practice autonomously with responsibility for assessing patients' fitness for colonoscopy, informing, and supporting individuals throughout the screening pathway. The post is varied and includes providing nurse-led clinics for individuals who have tested positive for Faecal Occult Blood as part of the Programme; attending colonoscopy lists, processing histology outcomes, and providing results including cancer diagnosis.
