Job description

The applicant will work alongside an established team of Thoracic medicine consultants, specialist practitioners, and wider multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, fast-paced respiratory service. The role involves collaboration with front door services, respiratory hot clinics, virtual wards, community stakeholders, outreach, and outpatient respiratory services.

We seek proactive specialist clinicians dedicated to enhancing patient experience, optimizing care to prevent hospital admissions and re-admissions, and promoting effective self-management for patients and carers.

Ongoing training and development opportunities are available for both specialist and trainee roles, supported by existing multidisciplinary and education teams.

If you are a forward-thinking physiotherapist with relevant clinical experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for innovative team working and patient care, this role is ideal for you.

Candidates who do not meet all criteria may start as a trainee clinical specialist at band 7 until competencies are achieved.

Main duties of the job
  1. Demonstrate clinical expertise, working autonomously, making complex decisions based on advanced knowledge and experience with respiratory patients.
  2. Request, interpret, and act on investigation results relevant to respiratory healthcare.
  3. Practice autonomously, managing referrals across various clinical environments within the health network.
  4. Establish values-based professional practice across pathways, services, organizations, and systems, working with individuals, families, carers, and communities.
  5. Lead health and social care provision, including practice accreditation and system-wide improvements.
  6. Implement peer reviews and evaluations to assess safety, quality, and health outcomes from pathway to system level.
  7. Provide high-quality, values-based practice that enhances patient experience and supports decision-making in complex situations.
