Job description

The post holder will lead the Dietetic coverage for the HD and CKD services across Staffordshire and South Cheshire, with support from team members. They will also share cover at Royal Stoke, including the acute renal ward, critical care, and clinics.
You will develop and participate in patient education events, student training, and staff teaching, supporting the team in audits and service development. This role is ideal for a dietitian wishing to develop skills in Renal Dietetics and leadership.
Responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing and treating own specialist caseload of patients/clients, maintaining records.
  2. Developing links with local patient support groups.
  3. Liaising with team dietitians to prioritize workload and support team members.
  4. Working across inpatient and outpatient settings, including satellite units, responding promptly to referrals.
  5. Providing patient-centered nutritional care tailored to individual needs.
  6. Ensuring continuity of care across stages of CKD.
  7. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with other disciplines and agencies.
  8. Maintaining effective relationships within the Trust and the wider health economy.
  9. Liaising with dietitians from other trusts and healthcare professionals regarding patient treatment and dietary progress.

The role involves working with an established team of 7 renal dietitians and 64 dietitians overall. The department supports Staffordshire and South Cheshire, with 11 Nephrologists and clinical nurse specialists.
