Job summary

NHS Highland is seeking a Band 6 Radiographer in Oban to deliver advanced diagnostic imaging with autonomy in a rural coastal setting.

You will work within Radiology to provide high-quality general radiography across inpatient and outpatient services, support Band 5 colleagues, and participate in out-of-hours rotas. This role offers flexible working options and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

  • HCPC-registered Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Strong clinical experience in general radiography.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for patient care.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Experience or interest in rural healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality general radiography across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.
  • Apply advanced practice skills appropriate to Band 6 level to support clinical decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively within a small multidisciplinary team to ensure patient-centred service delivery.
  • Support training, supervision, and mentorship of Band 5 colleagues and students.
  • Participate in out-of-hours and weekend rota (enhanced rates apply).

Band 6 Radiographer – NHS Highland

Location: Oban, Argyll & Bute

Department: Radiology

Contract: Permanent Part‑time (Flexible working pattern considered)

Bring your skills and enthusiasm to our friendly Radiology team in Oban. As a Band 6 Radiographer, you’ll take on a more advanced and autonomous role, helping us deliver a high‑quality diagnostic imaging service to our local community on the stunning west coast of Scotland.

What you’ll do
  • Deliver high‑quality general radiography across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings
  • Apply advanced practice skills appropriate to Band 6 level, supporting clinical decision‑making and safe patient management
  • Work collaboratively within a small multidisciplinary team, contributing to smooth, patient‑centred service delivery
  • Support training, supervision, and mentorship of Band 5 colleagues and students
  • Participate in out‑of‑hours and weekend rota (enhanced rates apply)
