Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven Specialist Public Health Practitioner to join our Healthy Families Team within Bassetlaw. The successful candidate will lead the Healthy Families Team in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme in line with local and national public health priorities.

You will work as part of a team to deliver universal and targeted health services to Bassetlaw's 5-19 population and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a defined caseload. We are continuously developing our offer to Nottinghamshire's 5-19 population and have been drivers for change by offering a digital health questionnaire to all of our year 9 pupils as well as monthly drop-in clinics.

You will be expected to develop excellent working relationships to provide seamless services to Children, Young people and Families. This dynamic role will provide leadership across the full scope of the Service Delivery Framework and will promote a partnership approach to health and contribute to tackling health inequalities. This post requires a practitioner with sound communication and teamwork skills, as you will be responsible for the case management, assessment, triaging, planning and delivery of care for parents, children and young people using evidence-based interventions.

Job responsibilities

To lead the Healthy Families Team in the delivery of the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme and Public Health Nursing Programme children in line with local and national public health priorities. The role requires a strong element of leadership to oversee the delivery of services to our 5-19 population. We offer drop-in clinics, Tier 1 interventions and workshops to parents to offer a wide variety of support to children, young people and families. We work in partnership with statutory organisations to support and safeguard our Children and Young people.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Qualifications/Professional

  • NMC 1st level registration and registered HV/SN
  • Non-medical prescribing
  • ENB 998/730
  • Demonstrate HV/SN practice
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary team and supervising junior staff
  • Experience of managing a team

Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes

  • Knowledge and understanding of current CYP agenda
  • Ability to work in partnership with other services to support CYP
  • Proven communication skills - written/oral & IT
