Job summary

Bright Star Talent is recruiting an experienced Specialist Primary (SEN) Teacher for a fantastic specialist school in Birmingham (B23). You will plan differentiated lessons and teach pupils with a range of SEND, including ASC and complex needs.

The role involves collaboration with TAs, therapists and families to support annual reviews and EHCP targets. You will join a caring, professional team in a setting with strong resources and a supportive leadership group, dedicated to pupil wellbeing and

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for primary pupils with diverse needs.
  • Teach across the primary age range in a specialist SEN setting.
  • Adapt learning to support ASC, communication needs and other complexities.
  • Create a nurturing, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, therapists, parents and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Special Primary (SEN) Teacher to join an outstanding specialist setting supporting primary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs.

As a Specialist Primary (SEN) Teacher, you will:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Teach pupils across the primary age range with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Adapt learning to support pupils with Autism (ASC), communication needs, moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated additional needs.
  • Create a nurturing, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, parents and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, ensuring lessons remain engaging and accessible.
  • Contribute to EHCP targets, annual reviews and individual learning plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence throughout the school day.
We're looking for someone who has:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential.
  • Previous experience teaching within a primary or specialist SEND setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A patient, adaptable and creative approach to teaching.
  • The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.

Experience teaching pupils with Autism (ASC), SLD, PMLD, speech and language needs or complex learning needs would be highly desirable.
