Job summary

You will undertake the Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) in Community Children's Nursing (CCN) commencing in September 2025 (date to be confirmed) and upon completion, you will be encouraged to apply for a post within our Shropshire Community Children's Nursing Team where such posts exist. You will undertake the course at Liverpool John Moore's University, September 2025 intake.

The course is full time over 52 weeks with 50% of your time being academic study and the other 50% will be practice experience within The Shropshire CCN Team and reaching out to other CCN teams in other areas. Some annual leave is set by the University and will be non-negotiable, however there may be two weeks within the summer semester where there will be some flexibility regarding annual leave, this will be in negotiation with your placement lead. Students are employed on a fixed term contract for the duration of the course. These roles are subject to funding from Health Education England.

Main duties of the job

• To work under the guidance of both a Practice Assessor (PA) and Practice Supervisor (PS).
• To attend practice placement on days designated by the University / negotiated with PA and PS (including consolidated practice)
• To work as a Student Specialist Community Children's Nurse as a member of the Community Children's Nursing Team.
• After a period of training and induction, and upon completion of the competency framework the post holder will be expected to undertake duties as allocated by Community Children's Nurse.
