JOB TITLE: Specialist Practitioner Psychologist within the Maternity Psychological Service
LOCATION: Royal Jubilee Maternity Service, Royal Hospital Site, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust
Job Summary
The Maternity Psychological Service provides a specialist service to patients of Maternity Services within the Belfast Trust. It is an acute hospital Service providing specialist psychological assessment and interventions for patients and their families in relation to current or past complications of pregnancy. The Service also provides consultation, teaching, supervision and support to local maternity staff and at a regional level as necessary.
The successful applicant will join our growing team in providing a high quality specialist psychology service to patients and families, at the same time as offering advice and consultation on patients’ psychological care to our multidisciplinary colleagues. The successful candidate may have opportunities to contribute to research, audit, policy, and service development.
Main Duties / Responsibilities
- Provide highly specialist psychological assessment of service-users, families and carers referred to the Maternity Psychological Service.
- Formulate and implement care-plans for the psychological care and/or management of a service-user’s psychological difficulties.
- Implement and evaluate a range of highly specialist psychological interventions for individuals, caregivers, families and groups within this specialist area.
- Communicate sensitive information to professionals, service-users, carers and families using the highest level of interpersonal skills.
Essential Criteria
- Honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent) conferring Eligibility for Chartered Membership of BPS.
- Postgraduate Doctorate accredited by the BPS and qualifying the person to work as an HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist.
- Registered with HCPC at time of taking up appointment.
- Significant post-qualification experience working as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Significant experience working effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
- Specialist knowledge of or interest in working with perinatal mental health and maternity-related presentations.
