We are looking for a caring, experienced, creative and dynamic physiotherapist to fulfil the role of rotational specialist band 6 physiotherapist at Furness General Hospital (FGH).

This role will cover a range of clinical areas including: Trauma and Orthopaedics, ICU/Surgery, Elderly care and Frailty, Acute Medicine including acute neuro management, Acute respiratory, and MSK outpatients (consultant referrals).

We have a team of skilled and experienced band 6 physiotherapists who provide peer support with monthly meetings and are included in leadership and development training programmes. Each area is led by an Advanced physiotherapist team leader, with whom the band 6s work closely to identify areas for service development. Rotations are currently for a period of 8 months with some flexibility for discussion around service and individual development needs. This post is based at FGH.

This is a patient-facing role with the primary responsibility for overseeing the daily clinical provision of physiotherapy within a particular clinical area. This includes the assessment of patients, development of goals and plans, providing the required treatment and contributing to the MDT for discharge planning.

The role will include the provision of clinical training and support for other physiotherapists within the team and to take an active part in In-Service Training (IST) and external education in line with Continual Professional Development (CPD) Division Guidelines, thus maintaining standards of care in line with evidence-based practice. It is also expected that any external training attended will be disseminated to the wider team.

Acute respiratory experience including on-call and weekend working is essential for this role. The individual will be expected to take a full and active part in the overnight on-call and the weekend working rotas and prior experience at Band 5 level or similar is essential. Communication skills and MDT working experience are essential to facilitate ongoing developments with integrated working. The individual needs to be able to respond well to difficult situations, have an awareness of safeguarding, be hardworking and have a problem-solving approach.

This role will include the supervision and support of junior staff including the completion of inductions, appraisals and the supervision and training of both junior staff and students. The individual will be responsible for their own clinical record keeping, utilising electronic patient records, in accordance with Trust, Division, Health and Care Professions Council and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists standards.
