Job Opening: Rotational Specialist Band 6 Physiotherapist

Note: Due to the interview process format, face-to-face attendance at the assessment centre is required. Remote interviews via Teams are not available.

Role Overview

We are seeking a caring, experienced, creative, and dynamic physiotherapist to join as a rotational specialist band 6 physiotherapist within the inpatient team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

  1. Trauma and Orthopaedics
  2. ICU/Surgery
  3. Elderly care and Frailty
  4. Acute Medicine, including neuro management
  5. Acute respiratory
Team and Development

You will join a team of skilled band 6 physiotherapists who provide peer support, participate in monthly meetings, and are involved in leadership and development training programs. Each clinical area is led by an experienced Advanced Physiotherapist team leader, with whom you will work closely to identify service development opportunities.

Rotation and Location

The rotation period is currently 9 months, with some flexibility based on service and individual development needs. The role is based at RLI.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily clinical physiotherapy services within your designated area, including patient assessment, goal setting, treatment, and discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide clinical training and support to other physiotherapists and participate in In-Service Training (IST) and external CPD activities, disseminating knowledge to the wider team.
  • Participate actively in overnight on-call and respiratory weekend services. Acute respiratory experience, including on-call and weekend working, is essential.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with the MDT to promote ongoing development and integrated working.
  • Supervise and support junior staff, including inductions, appraisals, and training of staff and students.
  • Maintain clinical records in accordance with Trust, Care Group, and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists standards.
Additional Information

Our services operate across three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH), Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH), along with community healthcare facilities. The role involves working across these sites, providing a range of general hospital and outpatient services, including emergency and critical care.
