Job description
Overview

Newcastle Older Person's Community Mental Health Services are looking to recruit a Band 6 Chartered and HCPC Registered Physiotherapist. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with experience of working within a community setting, with mental health experience, or a similar type of clinical setting with transferable skills.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment and management and physiotherapy service provision for service users with complex physiotherapy needs in mental health, learning disabilities and/or neurological conditions.
  • Work across Newcastle's Older Person's Community Treatment Team providing specialist assessment and interventions to service users with dementia and complex, enduring mental health conditions.
  • Work one day per week into the Regional Affective Disorder ward Gibside (RADS) at St Nicholas Hospital Newcastle, providing inpatient care for patients with difficult to treat mood disorders.
  • Complete assessment and interventions on the ward, create and adapt gym and exercise programs, delegate tasks to physiotherapy assistants, and run exercise groups.
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists across the trust through regular peer supervision and in-service training.
  • Provide on-going specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment using evidence-based practice.
  • Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality, individualised care that maximises independence and promotes recovery and wellbeing.
  • Facilitate the delivery of Physiotherapy Student Education within the clinical setting.
  • Provide compassionate care based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.
  • Apply core clinical skills to ensure effective service delivery of a wide range of conditions from all areas of physiotherapy.
  • Provide clinical supervision and leadership to staff.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Chartered Physiotherapist (Band 6).
  • Experience in community settings and mental health or related clinical settings with transferable skills.
