Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to join the MFT Clinical Trials Pharmacy Services team. This role will be based initially at our Pharmacy Department at Oxford Road Campus (Royal Manchester Children's Hospital), but cross-site working may be required at North Manchester General Hospital and Wythenshawe Hospital.

The post holder will support the delivery of clinical trials across different sites within the organization. They will work with the Clinical Trial Pharmacy team to provide an efficient, high-quality, professional, and well-coordinated service that meets all statutory, regulatory, and NHS requirements related to clinical trials. The ideal candidate is an ambitious, self-motivated, and committed Pharmacist with an interest in research and clinical trials. As a valued member of the Pharmacy team, you will be encouraged to develop your skills and maximize your potential, ensuring continuous development and knowledge of Clinical Trial Pharmacy Services.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting in the management of all clinical trials under the supervision of the Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacist, ensuring compliance with current medicines legislation and EU directives.
  2. Working as the clinical pharmacist responsible for the pharmaceutical aspects of assigned clinical trials, ensuring adherence to national guidelines and statutory obligations.
  3. Providing expert advice to the Trust’s R&I Division and Principal Investigators regarding IMP manufacture, procurement, use, and legislation adherence.
  4. Reviewing clinical trial protocols and advising on pharmaceutical aspects in line with European Directives and national legislation.
  5. Ensuring all clinical trial medicine supplies comply with Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
  6. Assessing the pharmaceutical implications of clinical trials as requested.
  7. Managing clinical trial documentation and storage according to National Guidelines and Trust policy.
