Job summary

Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford is seeking a pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit on a fixed-term contract ending 30/04/2027. The post leads professional, clinical and operational aspects of the service, overseeing non-cancer clinical screening and supervising junior pharmacists, with opportunities to develop clinical knowledge via ward commitments.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in aseptic services is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive service governance and quality assurance.
  • Experience with training and developing staff in a clinical pharmacy setting.

  • Liaise with the Aseptic Services Manager and other senior pharmacy managers, for the long term strategic development of the Pharmacy Aseptic Service.
  • Responsible for developing training programmes for all staff working the Aseptic Services department.
  • Responsible for the development and management of software based systems within the Aseptic Services department.
  • Responsible for all professional aspects of the service, including legal and ethical, within the Aseptic Services department.
  • Contribute to the development of products and services with the Aseptic Services Manager to optimise customer requirements.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join the team in our Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit. This is a fixed term contract ending on 30/04/2027. The Pharmacy Aseptic Unit supplies around 50,000 products per annum. We are in the process of building a new Aseptic Unit with state-of-the-art equipment and technology to enable the Trust to provide advanced therapies and participate in gene therapy clinical trials. You would work closely with the Head of Production and the Lead Pharmacist for the management and strategic development of the service, and with Quality Assurance to support the operation of the Quality Management System. You would take responsibility for the professional aspects of the service, overseeing the non-cancer clinical screening and supervising junior pharmacists. There would be the opportunity to continue to develop clinical pharmacy knowledge and skills via a regular ward or Royal Surrey Cancer Centre Pharmacy commitment. You should be a team player with the ability to introduce change. Your personal commitment to training and development will be supported by our dedicated team of specialist pharmacists and technicians. Previous experience in aseptic services is required., To provide professional, clinical and operational leadership for Aseptic Services, ensuring the safe, effective and compliant delivery of aseptically prepared medicines. The post holder leads the development of the service through governance, quality assurance, workforce training, digital systems and service improvement, while providing specialist clinical expertise, supporting innovation and ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards to deliver high-quality patient care.,

  • Responsible for all professional aspects of the service, including legal and ethical, within the Aseptic Services department.
  • Contribute to the development of products and services, with the Aseptic Services Manager, to ensure that the requirements of customers (both external and internal) are optimised.
