Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust's Chapel Allerton Hospital is seeking an experienced Band 6 Registered Practitioner to join the Orthopaedic and Spinal Theatre Team. You will provide high-quality perioperative care within our Elective Surgical Hub.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Level 1) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner with recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
• Significant perioperative or equivalent experience in the relevant specialty.
• Awareness of clinical audit and standard setting; up-to-date professional practice standards.
• Caring, reliable and motivated with strong interpersonal and organisational skills.

• Coordinate theatre day-to-day activities and maintain effective communication within the peri-operative team.
• Provide visible clinical leadership and support to staff at all levels; contribute to service improvement.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Registered Practitioner to join the Orthopaedic and Spinal Theatre Team at Chapel Allerton Hospital, part of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Working within our busy Elective Surgical Hub, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality perioperative care for patients undergoing a wide range of orthopaedic and spinal procedures. Our department currently comprises four elective operating theatres and is undergoing an exciting expansion programme, with two additional theatres currently being built, creating opportunities to influence and support the future development of the service.As a Band 6 Practitioner, you will be expected to provide visible clinical leadership, support the development of colleagues, and contribute to service improvement whilst maintaining the highest standards of patient care. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about elective surgery, demonstrate excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills, and thrive as part of a multidisciplinary team. Current registration with the NMC or HCPC is essential for all registered professional roles.

Main duties of the job

As an experienced practitioner the jobholder will co-ordinate activities within the peri-operative environment ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified staff within the department. He/she will play a key role in the assessment of patient care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.The jobholder will play an essential role assisting Team Leader in leading and teaching the peri-operative teams. The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the peri-operative team and ensuring effective management of the department in the absence of the Team Leader.

We are seeking individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and who are passionate about supporting service improvement and innovation.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective perioperative care to patients undergoing elective orthopaedic and spinal procedures. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to plan and deliver individualised patient care, contribute to service development initiatives, and support the maintenance of high clinical and governance standards. You will participate in audit and quality improvement activities to ensure compliance with governance requirements and best practice standards.

As a Band 6 practitioner, you will coordinate the day-to-day activities of the theatre team, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times to support safe and efficient patient care. You will provide visible clinical leadership and support to registered and unregistered staff, apprentices, students and learners within the department, promoting a positive learning culture and supporting workforce development. You will also play a key role in maintaining high standards of patient care, service delivery and team performance within our growing Elective Surgical Hub.
