Job summary
The successful applicant will be part of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team, based at Provide HQ.
Our children's centre is based at Stapleford House in Chelmsford. We offer visits in schools/nurseries and homes where appropriate, and work collaboratively with the child's support network including teaching staff and family/carers.
We are a friendly, dynamic team committed to providing excellent services. The service offers training opportunities, regular supervision and appraisals, and some online services. The post includes ADOS training.
Main duties of the job
- Gain consent, undertake assessments, diagnose, and formulate and implement treatment plans using specialist knowledge, respecting patients' choices, privacy, dignity, and individuality.
- Gather relevant information for patient care, recognize when goals are met or achievable, and ensure appropriate discharge or ongoing care.
- Provide hands-on treatment, demonstrating observational skills for assessment and therapeutic handling to facilitate movement and development of physical skills. Present treatment programs and developmentally appropriate play and approaches based on the child's age. Use a wide range of treatment skills adaptable to non-clinical settings.

Job responsibilities
- Interpret clinical facts with advanced reasoning to diagnose and recommend interventions for various paediatric conditions.
- Assess non-clinical factors through risk assessments, considering individual circumstances.
- Use outcome measures to evaluate and modify treatments, and determine appropriate discharge or ongoing care.
- Work in homes, schools, or other settings as required.
- Present treatment programs and use developmentally appropriate play and approaches based on the child's age.
- Have good knowledge of children's services across health, education, social care, and voluntary sectors.
- Assess and provide therapy programs for children with ASD and sensory difficulties.
- Undertake risk assessments related to manual handling, sharing findings with parents/carers and schools.
Person Specification
Skills
- Ability to work well with others
- Car driver with a clean driving license
Knowledge
- Relevant experience in paediatric practice
- Experience working in diverse paediatric settings and with various age groups
Qualifications
- BSc(Hons) in Occupational Therapy or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the Health Professions Council
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist
