Job Overview

Are you lookingtofurther yourexperience as aspecialisedpaediatric dietitian whilst working as part of a dynamicforward-thinkingteam in a tertiary childrens hospital? We are a friendly department of32dietitians, supported by dietetic support workers, Special Feed Unit staff and an administrative team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen foran experiencedand pro-active paediatric dietitian to joinourpaediatricintensivecare, high dependency unit/sandsurgeryteamon a fixed term maternityleave cover.The post providesaPICUnutritionservice within ourtertiary centrefor children receiving cardiac or upper GI surgery and those admitted for burns and multi traumaacross theSouthwestregion.The postholder will be involved incritical care, highdependencyand transition to the specialist wards, as well as providingsupport and supervision to other memberswithin thedieteticteam. We are also astudenttrainer.

Main duties of the job

To apply for this post, you will ideally havepreviousclinicalpaediatricexperience inat least onespecialist area andhave an interest in developingyourpaediatricintensive care dietetic skills usingthe BDA PICU Dietitian competency framework at band6/7 level.

We have advertised this as full time12-month fixed termmaternityleavepostat band 7 level, but will consider a suitably experiencedAfCband 6 paediatricdietitian

Qualifications And Training

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree/Post graduate qualification in Dietetics
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Postgraduate diploma / MSc or evidence of advanced dietetic practice e.g. British Dietetic Association Paediatric Modules
  • British Dietetic Association membership
  • Clinical Supervisory Skills course

Knowledge and Experience

  • Significant experience as a qualified dietitian at minimum Band 6 level or above
  • Experience working in Paediatric Intensive care and other clinical specialities
  • Working as part of a multi-professional team
  • Student training
  • Providing supervision to junior dietitians

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of audit
  • Active/committee member of BDA Specialist Interest Group
  • Experience of Research and Development
