Job summary

A prominent children's hospital in the UK is seeking a Specialist Paediatric Dietitian for a permanent position. The role involves working with children in endocrine and surgical services, requiring significant experience. Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

Specialised Paediatric Dietitian Endocrine and Surgery, Band 7

Permanent- 30 hours 0.8 WTE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent band 7 Specialist Dietitian in Endocrine (0.5 WTE) and Surgery (0.3 WTE) at the world-famous Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a large and supportive dietetic department and wider MDT teams in both the endocrine service and surgical service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop audit, outcomes and clinical service evaluation to improve practice. Opportunities would include teaching and representing the service at a national and international level.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with significant previous experience working with children with endocrine disorders alongside experience of general paediatrics and surgery.

Experience/Knowledge
  • Excellent working knowledge of a range of clinical conditions and current best practice for dietetic management across multiple areas and environments of paediatric nutrition and dietetics as a band 6/7.
  • Experience working with children and young people with endocrine disorders or undergoing surgical procedures.
  • Experience of supervision of junior staff, recruitment, and objective setting/ personal development plans
  • Experience of carrying out clinical and operational service evaluations/ audits and implementing action plans.
Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent organisational and good time management skills.
  • Ability to develop practice and service delivery in dietetics.
  • Proficiency in the use of IT applications to support efficient work activity e.g. Microsoft packages, nutritional assessment packages, statistical packages and electronic records.
  • Experience of working as part of an MDT in the acute and/or community setting.
  • Effective training and presentation skills using a variety of teaching methods for individuals and groups.
  • Experience of investigating and responding to complaints
  • Evidence of publication, presentations at national/international meetings; representation on professional committees/expert groups.
