Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Specialist Orthoptist for up to 12 months maternity cover, focusing on a complex ocular motility caseload. The role spans outpatient clinics and theatre settings in our eye unit at Royal Preston Hospital, with community clinics and teaching duties.

You will support Squint Consultants, participate in Botox clinics, MDTs, pre/post‑op care, and contribute to teaching of undergraduates and trainees.

Qualifications

• Qualified orthoptist with NHS experience preferred.
• Experience handling complex ocular motility cases desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage complex ocular motility disorders.
• Support squint consultants in outpatient clinics and theatre.
• Contribute to botox clinics, MDTs and pre/post‑op care.
• Deliver teaching to undergraduates and trainees.
• Participate in audit, research and service improvement.
