Job Summary
The Specialist Operations (SO) Business Group is part of the wider MPS and includes six Operational Command Units (OCUs), such as Counter-Terrorism Policing HQ (CTPHQ) and Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection (PaDP). Due to recent events and their implications for the SO Business Group, it is essential that the Met’s CD&I activity is coordinated, delivered, and managed by a dedicated SO CD&I Manager.
The post-holder will be employed by CTPHQ but will work as an embedded member within the Met CD&I Directorate on behalf of the SO Business Group. This is a pioneering role, offering the opportunity to develop the position as CD&I activities expand within SO and the broader MPS.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and advance progress on the New Met for London CD&I commitments for the SO Business Group, including managing the core dataset and tracking progress against action plans.
- Provide expert IDE advice and guidance to colleagues across all ranks and bands involved in CD&I activities within the six OCUs and the wider MPS.
- Serve as the Tactical Lead for the SO CD&I Board, supporting the Chair in advancing the Business Group’s CD&I objectives and maintaining momentum between meetings.
- Regularly meet with OCU IDE Leads and Commanders to support progress on local action plans and address any barriers to achieving IDE goals.
- Critically evaluate internal policies and processes, recommending improvements or positive actions to foster a positive culture within the Business Group and the wider MPS.
- Offer ad-hoc support and guidance to colleagues, applying external best practices and internal insights for effective advice.
- Translate CD&I insights into measurable actions within the wider Directorate.
- Develop and deliver training and briefing sessions on IDE topics, tailored to local business areas when necessary.
- Implement innovative solutions to enhance the talent pipeline, attract high-quality candidates, and improve representation within SO.
