Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support - University of Cumbria

Location: University of Cumbria
Rate: £28 per hour + £3.38 holiday pay

Randstad Student Support is recruiting Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support Workers to assist university students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) at the University of Cumbria. This role begins at the start of the academic year and combines both face-to-face and online sessions, depending on student preferences. Successful applicants must be able to travel to campus as required.

About the Role

In this role, you will deliver tailored academic support designed to foster student independence. You will work one-on-one to build learning strategies that support each student's needs and educational goals. The focus is on building confidence, academic ability, and long-term skills development.

Main Responsibilities

As a Specialist Study Skills Support Worker, you will assist students to:

  • Develop independent study habits and academic confidence

  • Build personalised learning strategies

  • Improve organisation and time management skills

  • Create and follow structured action plans

  • Enhance research skills using credible sources

  • Understand and use referencing methods correctly

Essential Criteria

  • To meet DSA funding requirements, you must hold membership with one of the following professional bodies at the appropriate level (as listed on page 17 of the qualification framework):
  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA)

  • Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)

  • Dyslexia Guild

  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)

Only applicants with approved memberships will be considered for this role.
