Rate: £28 per hour + £3.38 holiday pay
Randstad Student Support is recruiting Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support Workers to assist university students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) at the University of Cumbria. This role begins at the start of the academic year and combines both face-to-face and online sessions, depending on student preferences. Successful applicants must be able to travel to campus as required.
About the RoleIn this role, you will deliver tailored academic support designed to foster student independence. You will work one-on-one to build learning strategies that support each student's needs and educational goals. The focus is on building confidence, academic ability, and long-term skills development.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Specialist Study Skills Support Worker, you will assist students to:
Develop independent study habits and academic confidence
Build personalised learning strategies
Improve organisation and time management skills
Create and follow structured action plans
Enhance research skills using credible sources
Understand and use referencing methods correctly
Essential Criteria
British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)
Dyslexia Guild
The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)

Desirable SkillsExperience working with individuals with SpLDs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
