We are a friendly team comprising Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Assistant Therapy Practitioners, and Rehabilitation Assistants.

We are seeking someone eager to work within a motivated and enthusiastic team providing specialised stroke and neurological inpatient rehabilitation. You will collaborate closely with the Clinical Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist and liaise with the network of stroke and neuro specialist physiotherapists across Powys. The applicant will be part of a Powys-wide neuro specialist multidisciplinary team, including a Consultant Therapist for Stroke and Neurorehabilitation, responsible for identifying, developing, and delivering continuous service improvements in the Stroke and Neurological Conditions Delivery Plans.

You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, a flexible approach to work, and negotiation skills to motivate patients and staff to deliver high standards of care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a specialist OT service within a designated area for Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB), responsible for:

  1. Managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  2. Providing leadership for junior staff through supervision and appraisal.
  3. Participating in the planning, development, and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
  4. Contributing to the maintenance and development of Powys Teaching Health Board Occupational Therapy Service.
  5. Supervising Occupational Therapy students on practice placements regularly.
  6. Deputising for the Team Leader when necessary.
  7. Working flexibly across localities and participating in the 7-day rota to meet service needs.
  8. Providing cover in other areas/specialities as appropriate and within competencies.
  9. Providing a flexible service in locations most appropriate to patients' needs.
  10. Allocating work to support staff, monitoring their skills and competencies at all times.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge (Essential):

  • Diploma or degree in OT
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of significant postgraduate training (e.g., short courses, in-house training)
  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Up-to-date knowledge of legislation
  • Specialist knowledge of OT assessments and interventions relevant to the client group
  • Knowledge of clinical governance principles and their application

Qualifications and Knowledge (Desirable):
