Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is recruiting a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the REACH Clacks and Stirling Team. You will deliver rehabilitation in the community, manage a varied caseload across home visits, assess and treat, and support independent living.

Based at Stirling Health and Care Village with travel across Clackmannanshire and Stirling HSCP; the role involves supervision of junior staff, TAPs and students, and contributing to governance and service development.

Job description

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive REACH Clacks and Stirling Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an integrated multidisciplinary team providing rehabilitation services within the community. You will manage a varied caseload, carrying out assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning, while supporting people to maximise their independence and achieve their goals. The role also includes supporting the supervision, education and development of junior staff, Therapy Assistant Practitioners (TAPs) and students.

Our service is focused on helping people remain independent, supporting self-management, preventing unnecessary hospital admissions and enabling timely, safe discharge from hospital through person-centred care. You will contribute to multidisciplinary assessments, duty cover and service delivery, while also taking part in supervision, health improvement initiatives, audit activity and service development projects.

The post offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills in frailty and provide expert advice and support to colleagues, patients and carers. You will also contribute to Clinical Governance, Clinical Effectiveness and research activity.

Working both autonomously and collaboratively, you will deliver assessment, treatment and rehabilitation across a range of community settings, including patients’ homes, and support our Discharge to Assess pathways.

This rewarding role offers a diverse caseload across both our community rehabilitation service and community duty team, helping people stay at home, improve their functional ability and return home safely following a hospital stay.

You will work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, district nurses, social care colleagues, GPs and other professionals to provide coordinated, person-centred care.

The post is based at Stirling Health and Care Village, with travel required across the Clackmannanshire and Stirling HSCP area. Access to a pool car maybe available for business travel. Hours are normally worked Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
