Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6)

Cygnet Pindar House is our 22-bed Neuropsychiatric care and treatment service for men affected by acquired brain injuries. It is a safe and secure environment to aid recovery and offers long-term placements for those with progressive neurological diseases like Huntington's Disease, supporting and managing symptom progression.

Main duties of the job

At Cygnet Healthcare, we focus strongly on occupational therapy, supported by Clinical Leads and Occupational Therapy Directors. We employ evidence-based practices within our service lines, with OT playing a key role. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will work autonomously, providing specialist assessments and treatments, supervising others, leading projects, and supporting student education. Opportunities for learning, development, and research are supported by a robust appraisal and supervision framework based on RCOT's Career Development Framework.

Your Role

Service Line: Neurorehabilitation

Please note: Experience in Neurorehabilitation is not essential. You will undertake a 6-month Neurorehabilitation preceptorship program.

Site Summary: Cygnet Pindar House is a 22-bed neuropsychiatric facility for men with acquired brain injuries, offering a safe environment to support recovery and manage neurological conditions like Huntington's Disease. The service handles both urgent and planned admissions, providing a therapeutically rich environment aimed at maximizing independence and preparing for discharge to community living.

Our interdisciplinary neuropsychiatry team supports complex physical health needs, with en-suite bedrooms for those with mobility impairments. We prioritize person-centered care and discharge planning, offering activities and facilities to promote independence.

You will serve as the onsite Band 6 Occupational Therapist, supervising a Band 5 OT.

Occupational Therapy Directorate

Led by our occupational therapy directors, we support over 150 OTs and 300 OT support staff across the group, encouraging participation in service development and specialist interest groups.
