Overview

Band 6 Nutritional Nurse Specialist fixed-term (6 months) at North Devon District Hospital, Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The role delivers expert nutritional care across inpatient and outpatient settings, including assessing and managing patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition, supporting safe discharge planning, and working with the multidisciplinary team to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.

Main duties
  • Provide specialist assessment and management for patients requiring nutritional support.
  • Support safe discharge planning for patients on enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and best interest decisions.
  • Deliver education and training to staff, patients, and carers.
  • Contribute to service development and policy review.
Qualifications

Essential: Registered Nurse with post-registration experience in acute care; expertise in managing enteral feeding tubes; strong communication and organisational skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a commitment to high-quality patient care and service improvement.

Working pattern

Working Pattern: 3 days per week, exact days to be agreed on appointment.
