An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetes and Endocrine Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is a full-time Band 7 role, Monday-Friday, 7.5 hour shifts. This post will require cross site working.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing a specialist nursing service for patients with Diabetes and Endocrine disorders, they will support the team reviewing patients who are currently inpatients or who are being seen on an outpatient basis. They will offer advice and specialist support to the patients, their families, and colleagues, as necessary. The post holder may need to support the lead nurse in the development of the service.

There may be a requirement to deputise for the Nursing Lead CNS in his/her absence.

Main duties of the job

• To assess, plan and implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for people with complex needs for their Diabetes and Endocrine management.
• Thepost holder is required to provide expert clinical care for patients and to support other staff to develop their competencies in diabetes and endocrinemanagement.
• The post holder will be involved in teaching and training both formally to clinical staff and to patients.
• They will berequired to work within Shrewsbury and Telford Acute Trust, however, where appropriate to work collaboratively with primary and community care, and link to other specialists within the acute setting to implement the integrated care pathway for people with diabetes and endocrinology.
• The post holder will lead audit in their sub-speciality areas and support colleagues in service development and quality improvement work.
