Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a qualified Nuclear Medicine Radiographer or Trainee to join the busy Nuclear Medicine Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust. The department offers a wide range of imaging, non-imaging, and therapeutic radionuclide services, equipped with two GE Discovery 870 DR SPECT/CT scanners.

If you are a trainee Band 5 radiographer, you must have a DCR/BSc Hons in Diagnostic Radiography, be HCPC registered, and willing to undertake a year of training. Upon completion and competency, you will be appointed to a Band 6 position.

The department supports a progressive cardiac imaging service led by radiographers.

Applicants should hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Nuclear Medicine, with proven experience in nuclear medicine procedures and hybrid imaging knowledge. Those interested in nuclear medicine with a willingness to undertake the diploma will be considered for development roles.

Main duties of the job

You will manage workload, ensure standards of practice, supervise junior staff, and provide leadership and direction, acting as a role model and patient advocate. You will assess, plan, and decide on imaging examinations, maintaining records.

  • Assist the Lead radiographer in managing personnel, facilities, and systems.
  • Coordinate care, delegate duties, supervise junior staff.
  • Ensure high radiographic standards, meet patient needs, adhere to standards and guidelines.
  • Monitor and improve patient care and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and healthcare colleagues.
  • Promote equality and meet individual needs.
  • Maintain a safe, hygienic environment.
  • Participate in education and training of staff.
  • Maintain professional competence and extend knowledge.
  • Comply with radiation safety regulations and departmental protocols.
