Job description
Overview

The role will provide a dietetics service for patients undergoing neurorehabilitation, delivering specialist nutrition support to patients recovering from neurological conditions. The post involves autonomous development of the dietetic service within this specialty and covers Neurosciences and Trauma wards, including patients under neurology, neurotrauma, neurosurgery and trauma services. There is also an opportunity to contribute to teaching and training for staff within the Trust. Flexibility, organisation and excellent communication skills are key attributes for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Provide an evidence-based, effective and responsive dietetic service to the 8-bed neurorehabilitation service that provides Rapid Access to Acute Rehabilitation (RAAR).
  • Cover across the neurosciences (including neurology, neurotrauma and neurosurgery) and trauma wards.
  • Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), including attending and contributing to ward rounds, board rounds and MDT meetings.
  • Manage home enteral feeding discharges independently, liaising with relevant specialist services to achieve timely outcomes.
  • Plan and deliver specialist training for medical staff, nurses, students and other health care professionals.
  • Ensure audits and quality improvement activities are undertaken regularly.
