Job description

We are recruiting for dynamic and motivated Band 5 Nurses to join our Specialist Medicine department at the Royal London Hospital.

Specialist Medicine Ward (13D) is a busy ward within the specialist medicine division, specialising in acute medicine, haematology, endocrinology, and metabolic medicine.

There is a multidisciplinary approach to care on our ward, where you are expected to problem-solve independently and work collaboratively as part of a wider team. There is scope for professional development through the role of link nurse and the potential to develop leadership and critical care skills with support from the Practice Development Nurse. We also offer the opportunity to attain a CPPD in diabetic care from City University.

You should possess excellent communication skills and be committed to delivering safe and compassionate care. We welcome new ideas and strive to constantly improve our delivery of care to patients.

Newly qualified nurses seeking acute medical experience are welcome to apply, as well as more experienced nurses wishing to consolidate previous experience and contribute positively to our nursing establishment.

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and a leading healthcare provider in Britain.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a new course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. This includes delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and ensuring patients receive care in the right place at the right time. We also aim to be an outstanding place to work, where our WeCare values and behaviours are visible and guide our teamwork.

We are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member feels a sense of belonging. We value our differences and support an inclusive working environment where staff treat each other with dignity and respect. Our goal is to create an equitable environment where everyone can fulfill their potential.

Our objectives include providing the highest standard of individualised and holistic patient care, working effectively within a large nursing team, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
