This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the robust leadership of Ward 27, the medically fit for discharge ward, while advancing the Quality and Safety agenda within Specialist Medicine. The Matron will provide strong clinical leadership and effective management to support departmental senior nurses in delivering high standards of patient care, evidenced by key quality indicators.As the operational nursing lead, the Matron will oversee care delivery, ensuring a compassionate, respectful, and inclusive environment. They will promote infection prevention, maintain open communication channels, and foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement.The role includes coordinating multidisciplinary care, developing seamless patient pathways, and leading the clinical governance initiative. The successful post holder will be responsible for the CSU's quality improvement, risk management and assurance agenda. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders.Additionally, the Matron will champion education and training, building partnerships with universities and training bodies to enhance staff capability and service quality.

Experience
  • Significant post registration experience in a range of settings with substantial experience at a leadership level.
  • Able to demonstrate having worked in an autonomous role utilising skills in complex situations
  • Ability to evidence knowledge of the trusts risk and governance strategy.
  • Experience of working across organisational boundaries
  • Experience in leading and managing staff
  • Experience of clinical audit/R&D processes and practice
  • Experience in policy or standard operating procedure development
  • Experience of being accountable for patient care as well as decision making skills
  • Proven experience in managing and implementing change
  • Designed and delivered teaching or education packages to patients, carers and health care staff
  • Recent experience, in the last 2 years of operational nursing leadership

  • Evidence of current CPD
