As an advanced Specialist Systems IT Administrator you will support and maintain the organization’s on-premise, classified, and cloud-based IT infrastructure to ensure stability, security, and efficiency.

WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?

This role requires prior experience administering Linux, Windows, and Azure environments, and ideally virtualization technologies such as VMware. The Systems Administrator will apply their knowledge and best practices to ensure reliable, compliant, and secure systems that fulfil the organization’s business and security requirements. You will also support customers through technical help desk and installation of infrastructure

The successful candidate will demonstrate how they have used the problem-solving skills to demonstrate an effective approach to resolving server support issues. Alongside the technical skills you will need to have good interpersonal skills to work with other team members and staff within the company and group.

Tasks will include (but not limited to):

• Administer, maintain, and monitor Linux and Windows server environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
• Manage and support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, and storage resources.
• An understanding of delivering these operating systems and applications within a virtualized infrastructure delivered both on-premises and via a cloud provider.
• Experience of managing and operating enterprise applications (including but not limited to,) Microsoft 365, Active Directory (and associated technologies including Azure AD, DNS, GPOs)
• Perform routine system maintenance, software updates, patch management, and troubleshooting across heterogeneous platforms.
• Implement and manage user access, permissions, and security policies in accordance with organizational standards and regulations.
• Respond to incidents, service requests, and technical issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions for critical systems.
• Install and configure HW equipment - Installation of SW solutions (virtual machines, Operating Systems, antivirus, ...)
• Contribute to automation and scripting tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to improve efficiency.
• Demonstrate the ability to provide a high level of professional technical service to clients
• Accountable for own actions and able to prioritise own workload.
• Monitor system performance and security-related events and conduct root-cause analysis for system and service outages as well as detect any issues or potential threats.

WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?

Demonstrable knowledge and experience of supporting Windows based servers and IT infrastructure within an enterprise setting. This will include provisioning, testing, management, support, and maintenance of systems throughout the whole of its life cycle. This will include ensuring that systems exceed our minimum availability targets

Experience of resolving Service Desk calls and underlying problem diagnosis within agreed SLAs or OLAs.

The ability to complete assigned technical tasks to a high standard within given deadlines.

Knowledge and experience in administering security solutions to prevent cyber security incidents.

Proven experience in backing up and restoring Windows servers and associated applications.

Strong communication and document writing skills.

Managing and operating virtualization technologies such as VMware, including creating and maintaining virtual machines, resource pools, and snapshots.
