We’re looking for Specialist Intelligence Officer to be at the forefront of our new intelligence and law enforcement powers.

We need a dedicated and committed, Specialist Intelligence Officer who can work independently but is also great as part of a team; working together to identify and tackle emerging issues.

As a Specialist Intelligence Officer, you will:

  • Undertake an investigative role - by gathering information within ethical guidelines and best practice standards and in accordance with the relevant legislation, to meet operational objectives
  • Build and maintain a network of internal and external partners – to respond to requests for information and intelligence exchange
  • Develop relationships and understanding of work streams within Companies House, to further operational awareness of roles and to support partnership working
  • Process referrals and respond to sensitive ad hoc queries from partners
  • Handle sensitive data/intelligence in line with Companies House data handling policies.

To be eligible for this role you also need to meet our Nationality requirements which are outlined below and also successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Developed Vetting (DV) before they can be appointed. To gain (DV) clearance you will need to have been a UK resident for a minimum of 10 years.

Companies House cannot offer Visa sponsorship to candidates through this campaign.

Person specification

We’re looking for somebody who has:

  • Experience of working in an intelligence environment, working with partners from law enforcement or other government agencies.
  • Research Skill, gathering information from a wide range of sources with an eye for detail
  • Problem solving skills thinking outside the box
  • Experience on Microsoft apps especially Excel and Word
  • Developing relationships with stakeholders
  • Being able to work alone and part of a team
  • Great communication skills – in both verbal and written communication
  • Confidence in using information to make informed decisions
  • The ability to be adaptable and flexible in line with workloads

You will be aligned to our Cardiff office, where you will be expected to attend and work from the office 60% of the time due to the nature of the role (on occasion this may increase due to operational demand).

Occasional travel and overnight stays are also a requirement of the role.

  • Ideally, we’re also looking for someone with a general understanding of the Companies Act.
