A regional healthcare provider in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking a motivated Anaesthetist to join their team. This role involves working in main theatres covering various specialties and participating in on-call shifts. Candidates must hold full GMC registration and participate in clinical education and audits. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in a supportive environment, with responsibilities including patient assessment and ongoing service development.
We are delighted to be offering the opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team of developing Anaesthetists at our Furness General Site. This is an excellent opportunity for an Anaesthetist to develop further skills in main theatres covering maternity, gynaecology, orthopaedic and trauma, ophthalmology and ENT whilst also supporting on our 1:8 on-call in Theatre & Obstetrics.
The hospital is a trust of 5 site bases with intensive care departments on 2 of its larger sites and theatres on 3 of the 5 sites. You will be based at the Furness General Hospital with an expectation to cover Westmorland General Hospital as required. All of our hospitals offer a warm, friendly environment which we pride ourselves upon.
Furness General Hospital is based close to the Lake District. Westmorland General Hospital is located on the outskirts of the popular Lakeland town of Kendal. Royal Lancaster Infirmary is based within the Historic City of Lancaster. All our hospitals are situated in areas of outstanding natural beauty, which offer superb outdoor and recreational activities, an ideal base to escape City Centre pressures. Access to good transport links allows for easy reach to many northern cities where you will find a wealth of shops, restaurants, museums and galleries.
The department runs a full shift pattern with prospective cover for annual leave and study leave. The post is 10-13 PA per week depending on agreed job plans, of which 1.5 PA per week will be allocated SPA.
University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay provide undergraduate medical training for Lancaster Medical School students, as well as academic/research links with Lancaster University. The Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. We work in partnership with Lancaster Medical School, North Western Deanery and Health Education North West to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust’s high standards of patient care. UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical School’s MBChB degree programme.
