Job Description:

To support the Head of Care and Nursing Team in the delivery of excellent nursing and personal care and contribute to the efficient running of the Care Home. To assist the Nursing Team with clinical aspects of care as delegated by the Head of Care. To deliver care in a manner sensitive to the individual residents' needs and wishes, acknowledging and respecting their confidentiality, rights, and beliefs at all times. To train, mentor, and guide new and existing staff to enable excellence in care delivery.

Core responsibilities:

  1. Carry out tasks delegated by the Head of Care/nurse within the arena of knowledge and skills.
  2. Medication administration, dispensing, and ordering.
  3. Management of fluid and incontinence charts.
  4. Wound care.
  5. PEG feed.
  6. Venepuncture.
  7. Collecting MSUs.
  8. Audits of care charts and files.
  9. Liaising with GPs.
  10. Liaising with Boots.
  11. Receiving telephone enquiries.
  12. Assist residents to maintain their personal hygiene and appearance whilst being aware of their clinical condition and their individual right to privacy and personal preference.
  13. Assist residents where required with physical comfort and mobilisation while observing the need to minimize the adverse effects of pressure.
  14. Assist the Head of Care as required to plan, assign, and monitor appropriate duties to the care team on shift.
  15. Carry out regular supervisions of care assistants.
  16. Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home, adhering to Food, Hygiene, and Health and Safety Regulations.
  17. Make thorough and correct reports of all accidents.
  18. Monitor, record, and report residents' conditions to the nurse in charge of the shift.
  19. Participate in complete, accurate, legible, and concise records/care plans of residents daily.
  20. Assist the activities coordinator in promoting social and recreational well-being of residents within the home.
  21. Promote infection control practices according to company policies and procedures.
  22. Assist and support professional practitioners and residents during clinical treatments and investigations.
  23. Develop rapport with residents, colleagues, families, and visitors while maintaining professionalism.
  24. Attend and participate in relevant staff and Specialist Carer meetings.
  25. Perform any other duties reasonably expected.
