Job description

KMPT is seeking a compassionate and skilled Specialist Grade psychiatrist to join our vibrant and supportive team. If you are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of individuals facing mental health challenges, we invite you to bring your expertise to our forward-thinking Thanet Mental Health team!

Role

The team is comprised of two parts: Mental Health Together (MHT) and Mental Health Together Plus (MHT+). Both MHT and MHT+ are divided into pathways and streams. As a prescriber, you will support and screen requests to see patients from both parts of the team. You will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals, access ongoing professional development, and enjoy a fulfilling career with opportunities for growth. You will collaborate with other prescribers, including:

• 2 x Consultant Psychiatrists
• 1 x Specialist Grade doctor (this post)
• 2 x Non-medical Prescribers

The post holder must be Section 12(2) MHA approved and an Approved Clinician. If not already approved, you will work towards this status with a development plan supported by your line manager.

Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 years of medical work since obtaining a primary medical qualification, with at least six years in a relevant specialty at the Specialty Doctor or closed SAS grades. Equivalent experience from other medical grades, including overseas, will also be considered.

• Provide psychiatric care to patients referred to the service.
• Contribute medical input to the multidisciplinary team.
• Act as Approved Clinician for patients under your caseload or work towards this if not already approved.
• Be available to act as Section 12(2) approved doctor for Mental Health Act assessments.
