A leading NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a full-time consultant to join their General Medicine team. This role will involve working predominantly at Pinderfields or Dewsbury Hospital, conducting ward rounds, providing specialist opinions, and supporting junior doctors. Candidates must hold a recognized medical degree and MRCP, with at least 12 years of relevant medical experience. The position offers opportunities for specialization and professional growth.
This post is offered on a full time(10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered.There is also the potential for the post-holder to agree a job plan up to amaximum of 12 PA. The post will complement our existing consultant workforce,and individuals will work cross-site, but the successful applicant will workpredominantly at either Pinderfields or Dewsbury Hospital.
TheDepartment is supported by Specialist Registrars, Trust Grade doctors, CoreMedical Trainees, GP VTS Trainees, foundation doctors and Physician Associates.The post being offered to complement the existing workforce.
Ward rounds and attendance at dedicated MDT meetings
Provision of specialist opinion
Participation in outpatient or virtual clinics or home visits
Participation in teaching and training
Regular audit, data collection and quality improvement work to ensureongoing improvements in the care of patients.
Maintain overview of all ward patients
Actively participating and facilitating discharges on the ward
Support and supervise junior doctors on the ward.
Contribute in the electronic and verbal handover of patients
The GeneralMedicine team provides a crucial role for the Trust and our local community, bystriving to achieve excellent patient care and experience each and every timefor all our patients. The team provides care for approximately 44 inpatientbeds spread on the Pinderfields site and cares for all general medicalpatients, as well as supporting other medical colleagues in caring forpatients.
Providing suchvaried roles also allows us the flexibility to offer bespoke careers; if youhave a specialist interest that you wish to develop, we can work with you tomake that happen.
However, we do notstand still, and we are always trying to improve our services, develop ourresearch portfolio and participate in trials such as in post-operative deliriumand community rehabilitation.

Thispost includes on-call responsibilities as part of a dedicated Elderly on-callrota together with the existing consultant workforce. Working arrangements currently consist ofthe following:
Scheduled evening duties 5pm 8pm Monday to Friday currently 2:20seeing older patients (> 80yrs or > 65yrs from Care Homes or patientswith frailty) admitted via the Acute Care of the Elderly Unit varies from oneor two patients to five/six patients.
On-call weekends currently 1:8 8-hour resident on call seeingapproximately 20-25 patients with the support of the registrar. 1 consultant oncall at Dewsbury and District hospital and 2 at Pinderfields General Hospital.
Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the TrustFramework, with at least a minimum of1 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may becommissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changingrequirements of the service.
