Job summary

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) is seeking a compassionate professional to join the All Age Eating Disorder Service - East, covering Nelson, Burnley, Blackburn and surrounding areas. As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
  • Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
  • Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

We are seeking to appoint someone with a caring, compassionate nature, who is innovative, creative, flexible and highly motivated. Primarily you will undertake specialist assessment, therapeutic work and physical health care for people presenting with an eating disorder within the East locality. You should be an excellent communicator and team player, with the successful applicant joining a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of professionals to provide assessment and treatment to children and adult service users and their families/carers. The team includes a range of other psychological professionals, nurses, dietitians and a consultant clinical psychologist/clinical lead.

Main duties of the job

Existing experience in eating disorders across the age range is desirable but not essential. However, a keen interest to develop knowledge and skills in this field and a strong desire to help service users and families is vital. The successful candidate will benefit from regular clinical supervision as well as professional supervision, with encouragement to engage with CPD activities as appropriate.

The hours are 37.5 a week and we would be happy to discuss how these can be worked flexibly to fit with yourself and the service.

Education/Qualifications

Knowledge
  • An ability to think systemically and holistically
  • Demonstrable Knowledge and skills in evidence-based needs led assessments, of highly complex and co-morbid presentations of children, young people, their families and carers
  • Demonstrable Knowledge and skills in evidence based therapeutic interventions relevant to the needs of this client group
Experience
  • Post qualifying experience in a related field
  • Evidence of an ability to effectively manage own workload and ability to work autonomously
  • Working within a team and /or multi-agency arenas
