We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, caring and compassionate dietitian to join our service delivering high quality dietetic care for children and young people living with eating disorders, their families and carers, for our partner organisation Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT).

Working with the support of our band 7 Dietitian Team Lead, you will be a fully integrated member of the BDCFT multidisciplinary eating disorder team based at Hillbrook/Fieldhead and have the additional benefit of being part of the well-established and continually developing Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) dietetic team.

Main duties of the job

The eating disorder team is a well-established, dedicated, and friendly children and young people's community eating disorders service working across Bradford, Aire Wharfe Craven CAMHS. We treat a range of diagnosable eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosia, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating disorder and ARFID.

Our close working multi-disciplinary team includes psychology, psychiatry, nursing, dietetics, family therapists, mental health practitioners, and associate practitioner roles.

The family therapy FT-AN, FT-BN approach is at our core.

We have a close working relationship with our paediatric colleagues who support with in patient refeeding when necessary.

Bradford's Nutrition & Dietetic Service is a large dynamic team of Dietitians, assistant practitioners and administrative staff working in Acute, Community and Primary Care settings. Your professional development will be fully supported within the Dietetic department with our professional development framework and dietetic clinical supervision. You will have the opportunity to participate in the training of 'B' and 'C' Placement dietetic students.

Job responsibilities

To support the dietetic management of eating disorders in the CAMHS Specialist eating disorder and intensive home treatment service across Bradford and Airedale.

To educate and provide training for the multidisciplinary team, health care professionals, patients and carers.

To provide a high quality, specialist dietetic service to young people and their families in the community with a range of eating disorders

Applicants must be HCPC registered dietitians, who have obtained relevant clinical post registration dietetic experience, and who are car drivers with access to a car. You will be required to work across a range of clinical and community locations across the district.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Relevant post graduate dietetic experience in a range of clinical settings including with young people and adolescents
  • Post graduate dietetic experience within the area of a specialist eating disorder service OR working with children and young people with eating disorders within an acute NHS setting
  • Experienced in facilitating behaviour change
  • Experience of evaluating practice, service development and audit
  • Dietetic teaching and training experience relevant to post
  • Experience of developing evidence based resources and guidelines
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and consultation with other professionals
  • Membership and experience of working with a relevant specialist dietetic/BDA group
Skills
  • Excellent written skills with accuracy and attention to detail in written communication
  • Able to utilise technology to support dietetic care including: Literature searches, food analysis programmes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of dietetic interventions for eating disorders
  • Understanding of mental capacity and safeguarding in relation to working with children and young people with eating disorders
  • Awareness of the operational aspects of the NHS
  • Knowledge of the different dietary and social factors within Bradford District
  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
